Why Do I Need Dental X-Rays?
If you are visiting us for the first time then we’ll want to take a set of dental x-rays to fully assess your current dental health. This will help us devise the best possible treatment plan for your needs. Dental x-rays are great as they show us with detailed images of areas normally hidden from view, such as the contact areas in between each tooth. These ‘hidden’ areas can be prone towards developing tooth decay and we much prefer being able to treat any cavities while they are still relatively small and before they have caused any significant damage to your teeth.
How Often Do I Need Dental X-Rays and Are They Safe?
Regular patients with good dental health will probably only need a full set of x-rays every two years or so, but we may occasionally take one or two if we think you have a problem in between these times. We use dental x-rays to help diagnose infected teeth and abscesses and to plan treatments such as root canals.
Dental Expressions uses digital dental x-rays that are very safe. We can view the image immediately after it is taken and if necessary we can always email the x-ray to a dental specialist for a second opinion.
