What is Smile Planning?
Smile planning is an essential process that begins with discovering your desires and aims. Most people have a good idea as to how they would like to improve their teeth, but are unsure which treatments might help, or exactly the type of results that can be reasonably achieved. Smile planning will guide you through this process and enables us to design teeth that will complement and enhance your appearance.
How Can Smile Planning Help?
Your dentist at The Dental Group will spend quite some time talking to you to discover exactly how you would like your new smile to look. We may take dental impressions, x-rays and photographs and this data is utilised to strategically plan your new smile. Your dental impressions are used to create models from which we create diagnostic wax-ups. This is where the model is adapted with tooth coloured wax to show how crowns, bridges or veneers will appear after treatment is completed. You will discuss your diagnostic wax-up with your dentist and it can be adjusted until you are happy with its appearance. The wax-up is used as a guide throughout your treatment, including for the fabrication of temporary teeth and will show our dental laboratory exactly how to craft your new smile.
