What is Periodontal Disease?
Periodontal disease is a bacterial infection that initially affects the gums, but which can progress, destroying the ligaments holding teeth in their sockets and the bone surrounding teeth. It is the most common reason for tooth loss and periodontal disease can also have serious ramifications for general health. An increasing number of clinical studies have linked periodontal disease to other health conditions including diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
The Dental Group is very focused on helping everyone prevent this condition from developing. The early stages of this disease are called gingivitis and can be completely eradicated. Advanced periodontal disease has the potential to develop into a chronic condition that can only be managed but not completely cured.

We can work with you to devise the best treatment plan for avoiding periodontal disease. This will include professional dental care combined with good regular dental care at home. Healthy gums are relatively easy to maintain, but we do provide treatments to manage the symptoms of gum disease and which will deep clean the gums, helping to reduce bacterial infection.
